Come learn about the Photography Trip to Cuba in January:
Getting to know Cuba and its people with Cathryn Griffith – January 20-27, 2018
Cathryn Griffith will share information about the upcoming trip to Cuba that she is running for photographers in conjunction with the Griffin Museum of Photography in January. Come and learn more!
Here is a teaser:
Spend a week traveling, meeting people and making photographs in this rapidly changing island nation.
Meet friendly Cubans from all walks of life and learn about their lives and living conditions as you tour the Spanish colonial cities of Havana and Trinidad, on Cuba’s southern coast, both of which have UNESCO designations. We will also visit Cienfuegos, whose architecture reflects the influence of settlers from France. Our special license allows us to create an in-depth learning experience for American travelers.
In Havana, we will walk the four plazas of Old Havana and learn about the restoration of the city’s historic buildings, such as the Museum of the Revolution (formerly the Presidential Palace) and the National Theater where the internationally renowned Cuban ballet performs.
In Trinidad, we will see horse-drawn carts on cobblestone streets, learn some history of the sugar industry, and visit local craftspeople at their street stalls.
Throughout the week, we will experience the emerging Cuba first-hand as we visit monuments to local history, eat in family-run paladares and engage with Cuban musicians and artists.
Artist and photographer Cathryn Griffith, who has traveled to Cuba more than twenty times since 2003, will lead this one-week trip and provide an opportunity to meet some of her Cuban friends and colleagues. Cathryn is pleased to be offering the tour in conjunction with The Griffin Museum of Photography.
