As part of the Griffin Photobook week of events, we welcome Ashly Stohl and David Carol of Peanut Press to the Griffin Zoom Room. Melissa Breyer, Andi Schreiber and Rainy SIlvestre will join Ashly and David in conversation about Peanut Press, creativity and book making.

Join us online Saturday May 15th at 3pm Eastern / 12pm Pacific for a conversation with photographers who publish books, and the photographers they publish.  David Carol and Ashly Stohl, photographers and founders of Peanut Press in conversation with Melissa Breyer, Andi Schreiber & Rainy Silvestre about their recent book series, Peanut Portfolios.

Peanut Press is an independent photobook publisher founded by photographers David Carol & Ashly Stohl in 2014.  Our mission is to partner with photographers to publish monographs of the highest quality.

David Carol

David CarolDavid J. Carol is a photographer, writer, curator, editor, teacher, lecturer and publisher. He attended the School of Visual Arts and The New School for Social Research where he studied under Lisette Model. He was the first assignment photographer for The Image Bank photo agency (now part of Getty Images) at the age of 26. He recently retired after 25 years as the Director of Photography at Outfront Media (formerly CBS Outdoor) to co-found Peanut Press Books, a publisher of fine photography books.

David is the author of four monographs, 40 Miles of Bad Road…, All My Lies Are True…, This is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things! and his latest book, NO PLAN B. He also recently completed a trilogy of books, Where’s the Monkey?, Here’s the Deal! and All My Pictures Look the Same with Cafe Royal Books, London. His books and photographs are in the permanent collections and libraries of over 50 museums and institutions worldwide.
David’s other work experiences include editing and sequencing photo books, curating photo shows, and judging contests at magazines and universities, including the prestigious PDN Photo Annual since 2003. He has also given lectures/workshops on his own work and photography in general at SCAD, SVA, ASMP, photo-eye gallery, The Center for Alternative Photography: Penumbra Foundation, Out of Chicago Festival, PhotoPlus Expo, Filter Photo Festival, SlowExposure Festival and The Center for Fine Art Photography.

Ashly Stohl

Ashly Stohl is a photographer based in Los Angeles and New York, and co-founder and Publisher of Peanut Press, an independent

photobook publisher. She earned a BS in Chemistry from UCSB, then returned to Los Angeles to put her science education to use, creating award-winning educational websites for NASA’s Mars Program Office.

Her first monograph, Charth Vader was published in 2015, was met with worldwide press and quickly went viral, with the trade edition selling out in two weeks.  From this experience, Ashly co-founded Peanut Press, publishing fine photography books.

On the heels of her successful solo show, Days & Years, at Leica New York Soho, Ashly has released her second book of the same name.  In addition, she has launched The Days & Years Project, a platform to promote the work of fine art photographers who photograph their children.

Andi Schreiber

Andi SchreiberAndi Schreiber is fine art and documentary photographer based in Westchester County, New York. Her photographs have appeared in numerous exhibitions and publications worldwide. In addition to focusing on her personal projects, Andi is also an event, portrait and family photographer and photography mentor.







Melissa Breyer

Melissa Breyer is a photographer and writer living in New York City. With a classical training in studio art and a masters degreein Museum Studies, Breyer fell into photography and has been shooting the city streets ever since.Melissa Breyer Her award-winning work has been exhibited around the world and has been featured in national and international publications, including National Geographic and The New York Times. Her first solo photo book, Metropolis, was published by Peanut Press in 2020.





Rainy Silvestre

Rainy SilvestreRainy Silvestre (Matanzas, Cuba 1975). Moved to Miami, FL in 1998. Silvestre began his photographic journey as a self-taught photographer. He is currently participating in PHOTOALICANTE 2021 with a solo show about his project Little Havana, and has also participated in several group exhibitions.  His photography is a compendium of life and a direct relationship to his environment. Silvestre feels the bond between objects, spaces and human emotions is key to his craft. Attempting to show this connection is his main goal as an artist. Silvestre works primarily with photographic film as he discovered that it helps him slow the process down and provides him with an opportunity to be more thoughtful about his subjects.
