Portfolio Review Strategy and Simulation Workshop with Paula Tognarelli (Online)

Portfolio Reviews can be frightening if you have never participated in a review. Our aim at the New England Portfolio Reviews (NEPR) is to take away the fears and provide the tools and confidence to navigate any review session with any reviewer.

This two-day workshop is designed to help you prepare and practice for your portfolio sessions. Through practice sessions of actually engaging in reviews, Paula Tognarelli will help each attendee work through an actual review, develop an “elevator speech,” assist on how to begin the actual review, how to present and sequence the photographs and assist in the edit of the presentation of the portfolio. You will learn the questions to ask in the review and learn techniques to keep from being sidetracked by a reviewer.  Lastly you will learn how to end the review process and develop a means for follow-up contact with reviewers. Discussion on follow-up will involve practical applications to ensure that the work presented remains memorable for the reviewers as they return to their daily routines in the photo world.

Price is $200 for Members of the Griffin Museum and the Photographic Resource Center and $250 for Non-members. Space is limited to 12 participants.

Bio
Paula Tognarelli is the Executive Director and Curator of the Griffin Museum of Photography. The Griffin Museum of Photography located in Winchester outside Boston, Massachusetts, is a nonprofit photography museum whose mission is to promote an appreciation of photographic art and a broader understanding of its visual, emotional and social impact. The museum houses 3 galleries and maintains 4 satellite gallery spaces. Ms. Tognarelli is responsible for producing over 54 exhibitions a year at the Griffin and its surrounding satellite. She holds an M.S. in Arts Administration from Boston University, BA from Regis College, is a graduate of the New England School of Photography and a candidate for her Masters in Education at Lesley University.

Paula is a regular participant in national and local portfolio reviews, has been a panelist and featured speaker at photography events nationally and conferences including MacWorld and Color Connections.
