Looking to learn and hone your visual literacy skills and your understanding of photography and 2-D design? Join in this interactive conversation and journey through some photographic history with longtime photo educator, Cynthia Katz. We’ll look at slides as you are guided through the language acquisition  of photographic seeing.

This workshop is geared toward anyone interested in seeing, reading and decoding photography.

Cynthia KatzCynthia Katz is a Concord, Massachusetts-based artist and teacher. She has a BFA in Photography from the University of New Hampshire and an MFA in Photography from Bennington College. Her current work with cyanotypes, one of the earliest forms of photographic technology, is created in a way that is relevant and meaningful in our contemporary times. Her work has been described as being both mysterious and familiar.  This work has been shown regionally and nationally, is published in journals, books and blogs, including Manifest’s International Photography Annual 3, The Danforth Museum and recently in SlowSpace.org. Cynthia’s teaching career has spanned over 35 years, where she’s taught at SMFA, Endicott College, Harvard’s Graduate School of Education, various independent schools,  including her current position heading the photography program, and teaching handmade books at Concord Academy. Katz lives in West Concord, MA.
