Kathleen Gerdon Archer
April 30 – May 31, 2008
More Dreams of the Mapmaker, a series of digital photographs that are a response to personal loss and the years that follow, is featured in The Atelier Gallery of the Stoneham Theatre in Stoneham, MA, April 30 through May 31. The exhibit runs parallel to the theater’s production of Strangers on a Train.
Archer says the photographs “reference subtle moments of beauty, which make themselves known even in the most difficult of circumstances. Employing water as a unifying element, the series begins with the very ambiguous and culminates, after many years, in a vaporous clarity.”
The series, she says, is “the result of several years of deeply personal work” and the photos “record my path from the beginning of a life-altering change, to its eventual acceptance and inclusion in my personal history.”
Archer, of Beverly, MA, earned a bachelor of fine arts degree in painting from Montserrat College of Art in 2003. She is a member of the Copley Society of Boston.
