“papa & dada” (2021, 91 min.)
An award-winning documentary about families and love. Written and Directed by Daniela Ambrosoli.
The modern idea of family is fundamentally changing. More and more same-sex couples are fulfilling their dreams of having children. This heartwarming documentary shows what it’s like raising kids with two male parents. Papa & dada was shot over a period of seven years in Italy, Holland, Germany, Switzerland, and the United States. Four couples discuss their desires for family, while sharing moments of their everyday lives. These families experience joys and challenges like any family might. The unconditional love they all share creates the pulse of the picture. An excerpt sums things up well: “Sexual orientation has nothing to do with raising a child. Being a parent simply means giving love. Period.”
The 90 minute film features performances by Boston Ballet dancer John Lam, and music by Josh Knowles.
There will be a post screening Q&A with Mark Shaw, photographer/filmmaker.
