Shootapalooza, a collective of artists and photographers, will host a free community workshop to make cyanotype flags for World Cyanotype Day, celebrated every year on the last Saturday in September. Our theme this year is “Enlighten”. An exhibit of work by the group is on display at the Griffin from September 4 – October 2, 2022.
Cyanotype is a printing process invented in the early days of photography that produces a blue print. Objects or plant materials are placed on light sensitive fabric and exposed to the sun and then rinsed in water, a simple non toxic process. For more information check out www.worldcyanotypeday.com or find World Cyanotype Day on Facebook or Instagram.
All ages are invited to this FREE community event. Everyone will make two flags – one to keep and one to be sent to Ijams Nature Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. It will be displayed with flags from around the world on World Cyanotype Day, September 24, 2022.
All sales are final on products purchased through the Griffin Museum. Participant cancellation of a program/lecture/class will result in a full refund only if notice of cancellation is given at least 2 weeks before the date of the event.
